The Debian Security Managers discovered that the fte packages supplied
in the Debian slink (frozen) and potato (unstable) distributions do not d
rop
its root priviliges after initializing the virtual console device. This a
llows all
users to read and write files with root priviliges, and execute all progr
ams
as root. Fixed packages should be available from your local Debian
mirror.
