“.post”和“.travel”域名可能最早明年出现在互联网上，互联网主要监察组织ICANN周
三初步批准了这两个域名。

ICANN周三表示，还在考虑“.asia”、“.jobs”、“.xxx”等八个域名，“.eu”也在
单独考虑中。ICANN表示，“.post”和“.travel”获得通过主要是由于赞助商迅速提供了
详细的技术
和商业信息。
围绕创建和管理域名的谈判将会开始，这一般要历时几个月，ICANN警告说，没有保证这
些域名最终一定会被接受。目前有大约250个域名，主要是“.fr”这样的特殊域名。ICANN
在2000年批准了七个全球使用的新域名，但是“.biz”、“.info”、“.museum”等域名的
使用不如传统的
“.com”和“.org”。
Two new Internet domain names—".post" and ".travel"—could appear online as
early as next year as the Internet's key oversight board announced
preliminary approval on Wednesday.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, in advancing the
applications for postal services and the travel industry, said they were
still considering eight other proposals including ".asia," ".jobs," and
".xxx." Separately, ".eu" for the European Union also is in the works.
ICANN said the decision on ".post" and ".travel" had less to do with relative
merit and was primarily based on the level of technical and commercial
details their sponsors were able to quickly provide.
